Shotgun trip

I’m coming to the states!

Usually this means time to hang out family, catch up with friends, and just relax a bit. Well, this trip is anything but. This trip will be more like a business trip. We have a ministry partner in Detroit that’s going to be printing all our AIDS prevention curriculum’s for us, so I’m going to meet with them as we are about to print the first run of books.

Once my meetings are over with them, I’ll then have about 2 days in Jacksonville 1 day in Orlando, then I’m back on a plane to South Africa. That doesn’t leave much time at all to anything and hang with people, but I’m going to try and squeeze in as much as I can.

It’s hard to believe I’m only going to be gone for 8 days… and that’s counting 3 days of flying time!

Happy 30

bday
Well, as you can see by the artistic display of Coke cans I recently turned 30. There’s nothing quite like coming home to 70+ cans of Coke laid out in my floor. The Coke surprise was from a good fiend here who knows my love for Coke all to well.

Even though there’s not to much to do on the base here we did mange to put together a little Texas Hold’em game on my birthday and low and behold wouldn’t you know it that the birthday boy won. Is was the first game we played where there was an actual buy-in for the game, so I walked away with a little bit of extra cash in my pocket on this special day.

A couple people have asked me if it feels any different to be 30. Well, I can honestly say I haven’t thought about much. It’s been about a week now and everything feels the same. For the most part I think I’ll always be young at heart, walking that line between funny and immature the rest of my life. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe this is just the Peter Pan syndrome talking, maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and think about my “things to do before I’m 30 list” and flip out. Only time will tell. Let’s just hope that over the years I grow in a little bit of wisdom and manage to not lose too much hair. Who am I kidding? I gave up on the hair at age 23.
