Here I Am, Send Me

Friday, December 9th, 2005

I’ve been sitting here on my couch for over an hour now trying to figure out how to simply start this one simple post. I don’t know why I have such a hard time at writing, but when I faced with the task up writing my monthly (or bi-monthly) updates emails I somehow have trouble putting things into words. All I want to mention is something that God has forced me to deal with these last couple months. Since I can’t really come up with an interesting and clever way to write this I’m just going to write this a simple as I can. Plus, if I sit here any longer and keep hitting Backspace on my computer I’m pretty sure I’m going to put my fist through my keyboard.

Here it is…. Obedience

It’s everything. It’s what allows us to fulfill God’s desires for our lives and the lives we touch. One of the scripture I’ve been coming back to lately is Isaiah 6:8 when God simply calls for someone, anyone, to go out and do His will. Isaiah’s answer, “Here I am, send me”. Man, what a great thing to be able to do when God calls on us. No questions, no excused, just SEND ME.

There have been too many times just this past month that God has probably called on me, but I’ve been too busy, too distracted, or just defiant to answer him as Isaiah did. When I look back in my life at the times I’ve been able to answer like Isaiah did there was always one common factor. I was making time for God. I wouldn’t be working 60 hours a week, coming home from the office at 1 AM which left me so tired that my quiet time would last only 5 minutes before I had to turn off the lights. Sure, this is fine sometimes, but when I find that I haven’t had a quiet time in over 2 weeks. It’s going to be pretty hard to hear from God if I’m not even listening. Relationships go two ways and even though God is always there for us we need to always be there right next to Him with are eyes and ears wide open ready for Him to speak to us.

Mathew 7:7
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you”

All we have to do is walk to His door and knock on a daily basis. I know it sounds so easy, but somehow for me this is the hardest right now.

Party, Party, Party. No really, that’s just how it was last weekend. We had 3 parties in 3 days. One for LaunchPad graduates, one for Leadership Summit coaches, and another for children at the Limakaso Disabled Center.
